The MAKER GETAWAY Promise
We understand that booking a retreat is more than a transaction. It is a commitment of your time, your energy, and your trust in us to create something genuinely worthwhile.
We take that seriously.
A carefully curated experience
Each Maker Getaway is thoughtfully designed to balance creativity, comfort, and connection. From the programme to the materials and setting, every element is chosen with care. Where adjustments are needed, they are made to preserve the quality of the experience.
Support if your plans change
If you are no longer able to attend, we will always do our best to help. Where possible, we will endeavour to resell your place and, if successful, refund you minus a small administration fee.
Flexibility in delivery
Occasionally, we may need to make changes to elements of the retreat, such as tutors, schedules, or materials. Any such changes will be made with the intention of maintaining the integrity and overall standard of the experience.
If we need to cancel
In the unlikely event that we need to cancel a retreat, you will be offered a full refund or the option to transfer to a future date.
A shared environment
Maker Getaway is built on a sense of ease, respect, and shared enjoyment of craft. We ask all guests to contribute to that atmosphere so that everyone can fully relax and enjoy their time.
Capturing the experience
We may photograph or film moments during the retreat to share with our wider community. If you would prefer not to be included, simply let us know and we will ensure your wishes are respected.
If you have any questions before booking, you are very welcome to get in touch at hello@makergetaway.com.
Full booking terms and conditions:
1. Booking & Payment
There are two payment options: pay in full at the time of booking, or pay a 50% deposit at the time of booking with the remaining 50% due no later than 28 days before the first day of the retreat. If the balance is not received by this date, your place may be released and all payments made will be retained. All deposits are non-refundable. Your booking is confirmed once you complete the checkout process and a confirmation email is issued to you.
2. Cancellation Policy
If you are no longer able to attend, please let us know as soon as possible at hello@makergetaway.com. If you cancel more than 28 days before the retreat, we will endeavour to resell your place. If your place is successfully resold, a refund will be issued minus a 10% administration fee. If you cancel less than 28 days before the retreat, payments are non-refundable. If we are unable to resell your place, we are unfortunately unable to offer a refund. With our agreement, bookings may be transferred to another guest.
3. Organiser Cancellation
We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a retreat due to circumstances including (but not limited to) force majeure events, government restrictions, venue failure or unavailability, adverse weather conditions, situations where we are unable to deliver the retreat as planned, or failure to meet minimum participant numbers. Where possible, we will make reasonable adjustments, including substituting tutors or adapting elements of the programme. If we cancel the retreat, you will be offered a full refund or the option to transfer to a future retreat. Refunds represent the full extent of our liability in these circumstances, and we are not responsible for any additional costs incurred, including travel.
4. Code of Conduct
Maker Getaway is designed to be a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment. Guests are expected to treat others with kindness and respect and to contribute positively to the shared experience. We operate a zero-tolerance approach to behaviour that is unsafe, disruptive, or discriminatory. We reserve the right to ask any guest to leave if this standard is not upheld. No refund will be provided in such circumstances.
5. Changes to the Retreat
We may make reasonable adjustments to the retreat where necessary. This may include substituting tutors or instructors, refining schedules, sessions or activities, and making changes to the contents of any included materials or goodie bags. These changes do not affect the overall nature of the retreat and do not give rise to a right to a refund.
6. Travel & Insurance
Guests are responsible for arranging their own travel to and from the retreat. We strongly recommend obtaining travel insurance to cover cancellation, travel disruption, and personal belongings.
7. Health, Safety & Participation
Participation in retreat activities is voluntary and undertaken at your own discretion. You will be asked to share any relevant dietary requirements in advance. We will use reasonable endeavours to accommodate these but cannot guarantee the absence of allergens. We may advise against participation in specific activities where safety may be compromised.
8. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we cannot accept responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.
9. Accommodation & Venue
Where accommodation is included, room allocation is managed by us. Guests are responsible for any damage caused to rooms or venue property. Any additional charges incurred during your stay, including but not limited to room service, bar tabs, or other personal expenses, are the responsibility of the guest and must be settled directly with the venue.
10. Photography & Content Use
We may photograph and film during the retreat for marketing purposes. By attending, you agree that you may appear in such content. If you would prefer not to be included, you may opt out at any time during the retreat and we will take reasonable steps to respect your request.
11. Accessibility
We endeavour to work with venues that are as accessible as possible, however accessible rooms and facilities may be limited. Accessibility requirements will be requested during booking. If none are provided, we will assume none are required. If accessibility is a concern, we recommend contacting us in advance.
12. Materials & Goodie Bags
Where materials or goodie bags are included, we aim to provide a high-quality and carefully curated selection. Substitutions may be made where necessary.
13. Data Protection
Your personal information will be used only for the administration and delivery of your retreat experience.
14. Package Travel Regulations
Where applicable, your booking is protected under the UK Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018.
15. Force Majeure
We are not responsible for delays or failure to deliver the retreat where this is caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
